Ok, So last summer after all of the floods I hiked Oak creek. Saw this little guy fishing for little minnows. If You look hard enough to the left you can see one of the minnows.I am not sure what kind of snake he is.
Anyone have a clue? ![]() |

narrow headed garter snake. There are a ton of them in oak creek. I caught one that some dip sh#t had hooked in the side, and kept it for a while, they make ok pets. I let it go back in oak creek.

Why won't you folks believe Mr. Smith? He's dead on! It's a narrow-headed garter snake!
From the pictures on the site below, it's apparent that there are individual variations in color, but the heads are pretty much the same. http://pick4.pick.uga.edu/mp/20q?se...us&guide=Snakes I've encountered these things while stream fishing and they scare the daylights out of me. At first you think they're rattlers. I've also encountered a few rattlers while stream fishing. I've seen them in the North Fork of the White River and Bonita Creek. I watched one lying underwater so long I started to wonder if it had gills.
