Our 30th anniversary is coming up next weekend. So what....what ... what... to do?
1. 4 day White Mt get-away with very limited fishing taking the dog? or 2. 4 day White Mt getaway with less limited fishing not taking the dog? or 3. 2 night stay at Loew's Ventana Canyon? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Also any suggestion at where to stay in the WM would be appreciated but they need to accept animals. ![]() Last edited by Big Tub : 05-31-2008 at 04:54 AM. |

Well, BT... If the lil woman isn't into the outdoors as much as you are, I'd suggest going the romantic route and doing the two night stay at the resort.

Actually, she loves camping but not the getting ready and cleaning up. Camping for her is relaxing in a hammock in the cool pines. For me, it is a necessary evil for hunting and fishing -- thus to have a "joint" adventure, I must severly moderate the fishing part!

Big Tub, here's my analysis. Somehow you've managed to be married for 30 years, so deep down you know the right thing to do. My guess is that the Loew's only enters the poll because you are reluctant, but know it is the thing.
I have made so many bad decisions in my marriage, I think it may be unfair for me to tell you what I'd do. |

I'd take the longer trip with limited fishing (at least you'll get to fish a little, better than nothing), and the dog comes along to. Almost having the cake and eating it too.

Easy question to answer. Send the wife to the resort, take the dog fishing

That is the best option yet. And she may appreciate it the most as well, who knows. If you do go to the WM's though leave the dog so that you can focus on the two things you are there for: your wife and fishing. Packer

Big Tub,
I get the feeling your household functions a lot like mine. I'd suggest the 2-day Ventanna Resort thing IF she'd really like to do. That way your doing it for her. And it's probably not a bad time. Then when you get home, after having made the anniversary celebration mainly about what she wants to do, mention at some point that there will soon be a 4-day fishing trip involving you and possibly the dog. Then ask her if she'd prefer that you take the dog, so she can get a break from it, or if she'd rather it stayed home to keep her company. Which ever way pleases her most, that's what you'll do. Understand that this is not how I've always done things in the past. It is instead how I later wished I had done them.

I suggest you take your wife to the resort and that you pony up for her a Spa treatment. You'll save boat-loads on gas, plus, it's a heck of a lot cheaper than $42K in divorce/attorney fees. And btw - camo ball caps are not considered appropriate dining attire while in The Ventana Room.

BT,
I am the last guy to give marital advice. I am just lucky I found a woman, that puts up with me. Once, in a great while we do something as a couple I would never do myself and it always turns out to be a good time. I would ask her what she wants to do and go that route, Take Care, JLG.
