Yeah, this is kind of old news right now. A better link about the bill, and the 5 republicans which sponsored/cosponsored it (I am sure there are other good links too):

It was referred to committee in June and not acted on since. Not to say something could not go forward, either in the lame-duck session or next year, but the teknosis link was a bit alarmist and misleading. We should fight these type of bills (IMO), but misleading and alarmist info does not help.

If you have them, you can keep them

Section 2, Paragraph 2 of the proposed bill:

‘(2) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to the possession or transfer of any semiautomatic assault weapon otherwise lawfully possessed under Federal law on the date of the enactment of this subsection.

If you have them, you can keep them. Can't transfer them, though.
